Elon Musk on what drove his success "an obsession with truth".

"an obsession with truth"... That's what Elon Musk said is the thing he can point most of his successes to. I think that's pretty profound regardless of your opinion of him. He's not concerned with people's conceptions of technology, political, or economic force, he's concerned with the truth on the matter.

E.g. the truth about electric cars is they are a necessity to reduce carbon footprint, that reality brings to light the need for a real way to make the cars at scale, revamp the battery technology, etc etc... He wasn't concerned with its practicality when it began, he saw "the truth" of the situation and conceptualized the necessity. He created a way to make it practical where every other car company failed at the time.

He's not the first, of course, to come to this conclusion... but it's the first time I've seen that principle applied so simply to "success" in a venture. It's not about being right, it's about fully understanding the fundamental truths on the matter...

I think it's safe to deduce that being obsessed with the truth in your industry can much help you refine your priorities, embrace change, and make more impact... what say you?
